陳朝龍，1940年生，貴州興義黃草壩人，原藉湖南邵陽。自幼醉心畫作。貴州是一個多種少數民族聚居之地，自小便有機會觀查到各種不同的人物形象，因此產生了對肖像的濃厚興趣。繼16歲便開始接觸和學習油畫，至今已達半個世紀。

1958年高中畢業後，曾在貴州文化局屬下的專業美術機構、貴州省展覽館等單位任職平面設計、展覽設計、科教電影美術指導等工作。60年代師承俄羅斯的巡迴展覽派油畫體系，在亦師亦友的油畫家劉星源先生的指導下研習油畫，學習俄羅斯著名畫家梅爾尼科夫等的油畫技巧及創作風格。

20世紀六十和七十年代多次參加貴州美術作品展，是貴州美術家協會會員。1982年移民香港，開始了職業畫家生涯，多幅作品為外國人及本港包括戴德豐博士等知名人士收藏，近年多次參加在香港的美術展覽。2006年於香港教育學院舉辦『油畫作品展』，2009年2月於香港藝廊亞洲舉辦『人像鄉情滿畫布』肖像人物畫展，更曾於去年以曾灶財的肖像畫參與英國國立肖像美術館的肖像比賽BP Portrait Award 2008。現為香港油畫藝術家協會副會長、香港畫家聯會永久會員、香港美術會會員、香港油畫研究創會會員。

Chan Chiu Lung
Born in Gui Zhou in 1940, a place where ethnic minorities inhabit, Chan Chie Lung has been fascinated by Art since his childhood. The daily contact with the ethnic minorities aroused his growing interest in painting portrait. It has been half a century ever since Chan painted his first oil painting at the age of 16. After graduating from college in 1958, he entered professional art organizations with duties of internal design, exhibition design and film art consultancy. Chan learned oil-painting under the guidance of Mr. Liu Xing Yuan and studied art from a Russian prestigious painter, A. A. Mylinikov. Creating art which is free from affectation is a constant source of fascination to him. Passionately committed to capture the spirits of people, his ambition is for the pursuance of nature color and the enchantment of the mercurial reality. With years of consolidated foundation of sketching and study of anatomy, Chan’s unique style integrates the essences of Chinese and Soviet realism paintings. Over the half of the century, Chan has recorded thousands of faces and stories of different races and honestly reflected the situation of ethnic minorities in their society.

Chan Chiu Lung’s unique style integrates the essences of Chinese and Soviet realism paintings. Within the Russian frame work of forms and proprieties he has successfully depicted eastern philosophy and spirit. His artworks vivid lifelikeness, strong individual style, forceful textures, lengthy brushstrokes, dedicated dark-light contrast and vivid time spirit.
